Rotary Leads Hedgerow
Planng in Howard Palmer
Gardens
Wokingham Rotary’s Cathy Boddy secured free hedgerow whips
from the Woodland Trust and, with Wokingham Town Council, found
a site to replace a laurel hedge in Howard Palmer Gardens.
Following a talk by Ma Knight of Freely Fruity, a charity planng
community fruit trees, Cathy invited him to collaborate.
On planng day, 28 volunteers from 昀椀ve environmental groups
planted 270 “Wild Harvest” whips, including hazel, blackthorn, crab
apple, elder, dog rose, and rowan—enhancing wildlife habitat for
years to come.
